Membership Terms & Conditions

The Charity Housing Alliance (“CHA”) is a national membership body supporting and representing charitable housing providers across the UK.
 

Membership is free. By applying for membership you confirm your agreement to these Terms and Conditions.

Terms & Conditions - interpretation

“Application Form”
The online or paper membership form submitted to the Charity Housing Alliance.

“CHA” / “the Alliance”
The Charity Housing Alliance.

“Member”
The organisation or individual named on the Application Form whose membership has been accepted by the CHA.

“Membership”
The period during which the Member is registered with the CHA.

“Website”
The Alliance website and members’ area.

“Events”
Any meetings, workshops, training sessions, conferences, or other activities organised by the CHA.

“Terms and Conditions”
These Membership Terms and Conditions, as updated from time to time.

Agreement to these terms

By applying for membership of the CHA, the Member confirms that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
Upon acceptance, Members will be provided with a copy of these Terms for future reference.

Membership & Benefits

3.1 The CHA provides a range of services to Members, which may include:
• sector updates and policy briefings
• access to resources, templates, and guidance
• opportunities to participate in consultation responses
• invitations to CHA events, networks, and working groups
• access to member-only content on the Website

3.2 The CHA may update, amend or withdraw any benefits or services at any time where necessary to reflect operational needs, compliance requirements, or sector changes.
Any material changes will be communicated to Members.

3.3 Membership of the CHA is free. Some events or activities may incur a fee, which will be clearly stated at the time of booking.

Conduct and Responsibilities

4.1 Members must ensure that information provided to the CHA is accurate and kept up to date.

4.2 Members agree to conduct themselves in a professional, respectful manner towards other Members, CHA staff and speakers, both online and in person.

4.3 The CHA reserves the right to suspend or terminate Membership where a Member’s behaviour is inconsistent with these Terms or is detrimental to the Alliance, its Members or its reputation.

Liability

5.1 The CHA will deliver its services with reasonable care and skill.

5.2 The CHA is not liable for:
• any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss
• decisions taken by Members based on information, guidance or materials provided by the CHA
• the content, accuracy, or delivery of external speakers or third-party contributors

5.3 The CHA is not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside its reasonable control.

Data Protection and Communications

6.1 Personal data will be processed in accordance with UK data protection law.

6.2 By applying for membership, Members consent to receiving communications from the CHA relating to membership services, sector news, events and policy updates.

6.3 Members may unsubscribe from non-essential communications at any time.

6.4 Attendees at CHA events may be included on delegate lists shared with speakers and other attendees. If you prefer not to appear on such lists, please notify us.

6.5 Photographs or recordings may be taken at CHA events for promotional or reporting purposes. If you prefer not to appear, please inform us.

Website Access

7.1 Some content on the Website may be restricted to Members.

7.2 The CHA may suspend access to the Website for maintenance, security, or operational reasons.

7.3 Members must ensure login details remain confidential and are not shared without express permission.

Termination of Membership

8.1 Members may terminate their Membership at any time by notifying the CHA in writing.

8.2 The CHA may terminate Membership immediately where:
• the Member breaches these Terms
• the Member provides false or misleading information
• the Member acts in a way that brings (or risks bringing) the CHA into disrepute

8.3 On termination, access to Member benefits and restricted website areas will cease.

General

9.1 These Terms may be updated periodically. Revised Terms will be published on the CHA website and circulated to Members.

9.2 If any provision within these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remainder shall continue in full force.

9.3 These Terms constitute the entire agreement between the CHA and the Member.

9.4 These Terms are governed by English law, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
